2012 Rock and Roll Volleyball Tournament

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the inaugural Rock and Roll Volleyball Tournament this weekend! Below is important information for coaches and team representatives about the tournament.
Check In:
Coaches must check in at the tournament desk at Spire Saturday, 7AM or 1 hour before your first match. Coaches will need to validate their roster and pickup a coaches packet that will have your division’s schedule and other tournament information. There will not be a coaches meeting before the tournament.

Play Schedule:
Saturday Start Times:
- 13U – 8:00am
- 14R – 1:00pm
- 14U – 8:00am (pools 3 & 4) or 10:00am (pools 1 and 2)
- 15U – 8:00am
- 16U – 3:00pm
- 17R – 8:00 am
Coaches Handout (this handout will be in your coaches packet when you check in)
Doors will open at 7AM each day. Breakfast is available at FUEL beginning at 7AM.
Tournament Schedule: During your initial pool you will play either a three or four team pool. Some teams will repool on Saturday and begin pool play later in the day and then finish on Sunday. Some teams will play a challenge match after pool play on Saturday. You will need to read your schedule carefully! When you complete your pool, make sure you know where you go from there. Check with tournament desk or court managers.
Tournament Format:
The Rock and Roll tournament is run similar to larger National tournaments so it is important to know your play schedule and reffing assignments.
All matches will be the best two out of three sets to 25 points, rally scoring, no cap. If 3rd set is required it will be 15 points with no cap. USAV rules will be in effect.
The new two Libero rule will be in effect. A Libero is permitted to serve.
Warm-Ups: A team’s first warmup of the day is 15 minutes. For subsequent matches, teams will have 4 minutes each – including serving. Serving team will have the first 4 minutes.
Once the tournament starts, if a match ends early the next match will begin immediately.
Officiating Responsibilities: Teams shall provide 2nd referee, line judges, and scorekeepers when the team is required to officiate. A coach must be present.
IMPORTANT: Your team may be required to officiate before you play, especially Sunday morning. A penalty will be assessed for missing officiating assignment.
Food:
No Outside Food or Drink is permitted at Spire. Concession stands and Spire’s FUEL nutritional center will be open during the tournament. Bins will be provided to keep your team’s water bottles during play.
Other Info:
- An athletic trainer will be provided.
- Tournament T-Shirts will be on sale for $15.
- No chairs permitted on main floor. Chairs are permitted in upper mezzanine.
