COLLEGE RECRUITING

The Academy for volleyball will be conducting informational sessions for parents and athletes on the college recruiting process, NCAA recruiting rules, and tips on how to get noticed by college and university coaches.

The sessions will be conducted by professionals who understand the recruiting process and will include guest speakers such as college coaches and parents of scholarship athletes who can describe their experience of their child achieving an athletic scholarship.

Attend a session to find out what you need to know about the College Recrutiing Process:

  • Why you should begin the process as Freshman or earlier.
  • Why you need to market yourself even if your are being contacted by colleges.
  • How much aid is available across the various college divisions.
  • How competitive college recruiting  can be.
  • Why Academics are so important even for the best athletes.
  • What college coaches look for besides your volleyball skills.
  • What the NCAA guidelines and definitions are for the recruiting process.

Guest Speakers

  1. Scott Carter - Scott has a well-known and respected name within the college volleyball recruiting community. He is currently the Nation’s top Independent Talent Scout for the sport of volleyball. He is known for his diligence, work ethic, and ability to identify & evaluate athletic potential. His recruiting expertise has been developed over seventeen years of college coaching where he has been both a Head Coach & Recruiting Coordinator. Carter’s resume includes experience at a variety of levels including JUCO, Division III, Division II, Small Division I, Mid-Major Division I and Major Division I Universities. Additionally, in 1999 Carter worked as an Intern Assistant with the USA Olympic team and World Games Team. He has recruited various degrees of talent for programs ranging from non-scholarship to fully-funded.
